Blurring a photo background: the portrait effect
Blurring the background draws the eye to the subject and hides distractions: a messy room, people walking by, a dull wall. It's the bokeh of wide-aperture cameras and of your phone's portrait mode, applied to a photo you already have.
Blur or remove the background
Blurring keeps the place where the photo was taken, just out of focus: good for profile pictures, portraits and social media. If you need the subject on its own, on transparency or on white for an online store, remove the background or make it white.
