What you need to check yourself
Some main-image rules can't be measured from the pixels. Go through them before uploading:
- No text, logos, watermarks, borders or added boxes.
- Only the product for sale: no accessories that aren't in the box.
- A real photo of the product, not a drawing, illustration or mock-up.
- Clothing with no visible mannequin (invisible mannequin is fine).
- Sharp, well lit and showing the product's real colours.
- Square is best: Amazon shows images as squares across most of the store.
Frequently asked questions
A pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255), the product filling at least 85% of the frame and shown in full, at least 1,000 px on the longest side for zoom, JPEG, PNG, TIFF or GIF format, and nothing added: no text, logos or watermarks.
No. The check runs in your browser on your own photo; it never goes through our servers. Only if you choose to make your listing photos with Pictulab do you sign up and the photo goes to the generator.
Amazon reviews the main image and can suppress a listing if the background isn't pure white. Off-white or very light grey looks fine on screen but doesn't meet the rule.
