How to add a black background

1

Upload your photo

A product, a portrait or a pet. You can add several at once or paste them with Ctrl + V.

2

Pick the black

Pure, soft, spotlight or studio. It applies to the photos you process next.

3

Download the PNG

The subject is cut out in your browser and placed on the background, at your original photo's resolution.

Why do it with Pictulab

Free, no account

No sign-up and no watermark. The tool does not use tokens.

In your browser

Your photo is never uploaded: the cutout and the composition happen on your device.

Several sizes

Download the plain background in Full HD, 4K, square, vertical or product-photo size.

Ready for shops and social

A PNG at the same resolution as your photo, for product listings, covers or profiles.

When to use a black background

Black makes light, metallic or shiny objects stand out and gives a photo a more sober look than white. If the marketplace asks for a pure white background, use white background; if you only need the cutout, use remove background.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Adding the black background and downloading the plain backgrounds is free and needs no account.

No. The background removal model downloads the first time and runs in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device. That is why the first photo takes a little longer.

Pure black is #000000. Soft black is #121212, a slightly lighter black that looks less harsh on screen and keeps shadows easier to read.

Ones with a clear subject separated from its surroundings. Watch out for dark hair or black products: on black the outline gets lost, and the spotlight or studio backgrounds usually work better.

Pick another background and add the photo again: each run uses whichever background is selected at that moment.
