Why people still ask for TIFF
TIFF has been the reference format for document archiving, digitisation and prepress for decades. Many document management systems, OCR programs and print workflows accept TIFF rather than PDF, or treat a PDF as something that has to be rasterised first.
Converting here saves you that step: each page comes out as an image that looks exactly as it does in the reader.
Uncompressed: more weight, no surprises
TIFF supports several compression schemes, and not every program reads all of them. That is why this tool writes uncompressed baseline TIFF — the most basic variant of the format, the one every reader understands.
The price is file size. If the files are going out by email or being stored in bulk, PDF to PNG gives the same sharpness at a fraction of the weight.
One page, one file

Does it create a multi-page TIFF?
No. Each page is saved as a separate TIFF and, when there are several, they come together in a numbered ZIP. If the receiving system requires a single TIFF containing every page, you will need to merge them afterwards with another program.
Why are the files so large?
Because they are uncompressed: every pixel is stored as is, with 8 bits per channel. An A4 page at this resolution comes to roughly 8 MB. In return there are no artefacts and any TIFF reader can open them.
What resolution is used?
Twice the nominal page size, about 144 dots per inch. That is enough for reading on screen, archiving and OCR, but falls short if a print shop asks for 300 dpi.
Is the text still searchable?
No. A TIFF is an image: the PDF's text layer is gone and can no longer be selected or copied. If you need it, run the TIFF through OCR software or use the PDF to Word tool.
What happens to transparent areas?
Pages are painted on a white background before saving, just as they look in a PDF reader or on paper. The TIFF has an alpha channel, but it is always opaque.
